My Favorite Manis of 2014

I can't believe this year is over already!

2014 was a great year for me. I significantly improved on my nail art, and I think that I am even more into this whole blogging/YouTube/nail artist thing. I really love it and I am so glad to be sharing it with so many of you!

So I'm wrapping up this year by sharing with you my favorite manis of 2014!

Red and Gold Studded Nails | LightInTheBox.com Review

Hello everyone! I hope you all are having a wonderful holiday season.

Today I have a new design featuring gold studs and gold nail stickers from Lightinthebox.com. They were kind enough to reach out to me and ask if I would like to share these products with you all!

Two things that really caught my eye were these gold diamond studs and floral nail stickers. I usually prefer silver to gold, but during the holidays, I always love how much warmer and more festive gold looks.

Christmas Tree Nails

Now that Thanksgiving is over, it is officially the Christmas season, and I could not be more excited!

Someone on my Instagram account asked me to do Christmas tree nails, and I really loved the idea. So here they are!

I used this adorable red bow from Simply Spoiled Beauty to add a festive bit of red into the design. These bows are so cute for any manicure, and they come in so many colors and designs.

Pink Leopard 3D Bow Nails & Simply Spoiled Beauty Review

Hello everyone!

Today I have a fun and girly design using nail art pens and a 3D nail bow from Simply Spoiled Beauty! I am especially excited about the bow; Simply Spoiled was very generous and I received a bunch of them. I can't wait to use them for upcoming designs! They are beautiful and are such a great, unique accent to any nail design.

I looked through all of the bows and charms I was sent and found this white bow with pink leopard print. I immediately knew I had to incorporate it in a fun and girly design!

This is what I ended up doing:

Geometric Striping Tape Nails

Hello everyone!

When I got a few polishes from Live Love Polish a while back, I chose a gorgeous holo by Color Club called "Blue Heaven". Unfortunately, I've never really gotten around to using it, and I've been a little hesitant since I don't usually wear holographic polishes. So, I decided to incorporate it into a mani in small pieces! :)

Halloween Watermarble Nails

Okay, I'll admit it. I consider these to be a bit of a nail fail. Especially the index finger.... *sigh* I hate when I have an awesome idea that I've envisioned in my head and then when I try it for real it is a mess.

But anyway, I did this design as a fun alternative to all the drip nails, zombie nails, and cute Halloween characters that I've been seeing a lot. I really wanted to do those manis because I love them, but I also wanted to try something a little different. I decided to do a white to orange gradient with a black and clear watermarble over it.

Salon Perfect "Wicked" Swatch and Review

Hello everyone!

Sorry for not posting for a few weeks; October has been a little busier for me and I have had less time to do my nails. I still have been doing some Halloween art, though! :) I actually painted 10 pumpkins for my local Harvest Festival, and they took up a lot of my free time.

Anyway, last week I received some nail mail from Salon Perfect with some Halloween polishes! One of them was "Wicked" and it really caught my interest.

"Wicked" is a spook-tacular glitter polish with very fine green, black and white glitters in a very slightly green jelly base. If you put this over white, I think the jelly would add a faint green tinge to the white, so that is why I don't consider it a clear base.

Fall Leaves Nails

Hello again!

It has been absolutely forever since I did a nail art design, and I really apologize! I've been caught up with balancing school and a bunch of other things. But I have not forgotten about nail art, and I've been doing my best to catch up!

I really wanted to do a nail design for fall, so I decided to do this french tip design with leaves and a chevron accent!

China Glaze "Keep Calm, Paint On" Swatch and Review

Hello everyone!

Today I have another swatch and review for you! I received China Glaze "Keep Calm, Paint On" in my recent haul from Live Love Polish.

In case you don't know, Live Love Polish is new an online nail shop. They offer great brands like China Glaze, Model's Own, NCLA, Color Club, and more from all over the world! The best part is that Live Love Polish guarantees authenticity for each polish, so you don't have to worry about getting knockoffs. They get their products directly from the brands rather than unreliable discount suppliers that could be selling fake, defective or expired nail polishes. Live Love Polish also has fast shipping, and yes, it is international!

"Keep Calm, Paint On" is a light green/mint green creme with a subtle silver shimmer. This polish is sooo pretty and the little bit of shimmer is only slightly noticeable but it makes a huge difference. It is so beautiful!

I Got a Helmer!

Hi everyone! :)

My nail polish storage has significantly changed over the past few months. I went from storing them all in a jumble inside a plastic container, to filling my huge desk drawer with them, and now to a Helmer!

As you could probably guess, I kind of keep running out of space for my polish. #nailpolishaddictproblems.... Before I picked up this Helmer, the bottom drawer in my desk was completely lined with polish; not an inch to spare.

I took a trip to Ikea (which was pretty intimidating) and by some miracle was able to find the Helmer pretty easily. I was convinced we were going to get lost! :) I chose not to buy it online because I wanted to see the Helmer before I bought it, and to be honest I needed more storage pretty quickly... No time for shipping!

China Glaze "Too Yacht to Handle" Swatch and Review

Hello everyone!

I'm back with another swatch from the polishes that I got from Live Love Polish!
(More info about Live Love Polish can be found on my last blog post and at the bottom of this one)

I have been so excited to try out this one! I've been eyeing "Too Yacht to Handle" for a long time. I love blue-green colors and I have been wanting to add this one to my collection!

(Oh, and if you haven't already noticed, my nails keep getting shorter and shorter. My squares have been breaking like crazy on the corners!)

"Too Yacht to Handle" is a bright aqua/teal creme that leans more towards blue in brighter lights and more towards green in darker lights. I am wearing 3 coats with top coat in the photo above, and it is shown in natural lighting. As you can see, the green tones really come through in the slightly darker lighting.

LVX "Aster" Swatch and Review

Hello everyone!

Last week I received a few new polishes from the new online shop, Live Love Polish!
I wanted to do some swatches of each polish to show you all. I am so excited about them, they are so pretty! :)

More info about Live Love Polish
Live Love Polish is new an online nail shop. They offer great brands like China Glaze, Model's Own, NCLA, Color Club, and more! My order came in just a few days.

The first swatch I have decided to share with you is LVX "Aster" I had never heard of this brand before, but I was pleased to find out that this they are 5 free, cruelty free and vegan. Their polishes are also unfortunately a bit pricey: $16 a bottle. But, when seeing the price it is important to keep the quality in mind, and this polish doesn't disappoint.

Summer Floral and Polka Dot Nails

Yep, it's that time of the year again where summer comes to an end and we all go back to school. *cries hysterically*

But I'm trying to hang on to my last little bit of summer on my last week of vacation so I decided to do these summer-y floral nails. What better polish to use to capture the colors of summer than China Glaze "Flip Flop Fantasy"?

I used Sally Hansen "Mellow Yellow", China Glaze "Flip Flop Fantasy", and OPI "Miami Beet" for the flowers, and I used Essie "The More the Merrier" and "Naughty Nautical" for the leaves.

How To Grow Your Nails Long and Strong

One of the most common questions I get is, "How did you get your nails so long and healthy?" I figured since so many people want to know, I would do a complete write up on how I keep my nails long.

Just like anyone else, my nails do break. I typically get breaks on the corners of my nails because I shape them to be square. More oval shaped nails tend to break straight across. Luckily, I naturally have pretty strong nails that grow relatively fast, and when I do get breaks, they aren't really that bad.

Here are my best tips for how to grow your nails out, and how to get stronger nails!

These are my nail care must have products!

70's Inspired Zebra Print Mani

Hello everyone! I'm back with another mani using polishes from the Salon Perfect "Top of the Class" collection; this time from the 70's portion of it!

The 70's part of the collection is called "70's Disco Divas" and it lives up to its decade with lots of color and glitter. The polishes I received were "Disco Ballin'", "Foxy Lady", and "Disco Diva".

The polishes I used in this mani were "Disco Ballin'" and "Foxy Lady". I also used Salon Perfect "Sugar Cube" for a white base color, and finished the mani with the Salon Perfect Crystal Clear Top Coat. The zebra stripes were painted with black acrylic paint and a small brush.

Ariana Grande 60's Inspired Nails

Hi everyone!

A few days ago Salon Perfect sent me some of their polishes from their new collection called "Top of the Class"! The collection is divided into 3 parts that were each inspired by a different decade: the 60's, 70's, and 80's.

60's: "Nailed by the Mod Squad"
70's: "70's Disco Divas"
80's: "Totally 80's"

The first polish that really inspired me is part of the 60's "Nailed by the Mod Squad" section. It is called "Spot On" which is a topper with black and white circular glitters.

The first thing that popped into my head when I saw it was, "Wow, that really reminds me of Ariana Grande's "Problem" music video..." And from there I did this design inspired by the outfits and backgrounds in the music video.

My Tips for Newspaper Nails

Hello everyone!

If you're subscribed to my YouTube channel, (if you're not, you should be! :)  http://youtube.com/nailsbyerin) then you have probably seen my latest video on how to do my Newspaper Cherry Blossom nails. I did the same design about a year ago, and I was so happy do do it again!

Something about the look of them is really pretty and girly and there's a really cool vintage feel to them as well. I wish people did them more often, but I often get a lot of comments that a lot of people have trouble getting the whole newspaper technique right. So along with my YouTube video I've decided to make a list of my tips for newspaper nails! :)

Minnie Mouse Nails

Hey everyone!

Recently I took a trip to Florida with my family, and we spent a few days in Walt Disney World!

I took this picture right in front of Cinderella's castle. It was so beautiful!
Disney is one of my favorite places in the world, so I was soooo excited to go! Of course, I had to do my nails for the occasion! I decided to redo my Minnie Mouse nail design that I did just over a year ago.

So I got A LOT of new polishes during the holidays... My family knows that I'm obsessed! :) I wanted to make a blog post to share with you my new polishes and to show you a few swatches.

Just to be clear: I am not in any way bragging about the nail polish that I received for the holidays, I just tend to share everything nail polish related with you all, and I also wanted to see if there were any swatches of colors or certain colors you would like to know more about.

By the way, this is my "Nails By Erin" ornament that I got while on vacation this year!
