Easy Santa Suit Nails

Hello everyone! Happy December!

I know that I have been gone for way too long, and I apologize for my little hiatus.

Some of you might remember that I am in my first semester of college, so I spent some time focusing on schoolwork and getting acclimated to the change and my nail art went on the backburner for a while. Not to mention pretty much all of my nails broke in the past month or so, and I have been spending forever growing them out.

Now that it is officially the Christmas season, I decided to kick off the month with some Christmas nail art! This is a design that I did four years ago for Christmas 2012, so I decided to re-do it. This design is so popular now and has been done by so many artists, but it's so easy and fun.

Purple and Gold Floral Nails

Hello everyone!

Today I have another floral design to share with you. I guess I've been on a floral kick lately haha :) But I'm really happy with how this design came out!

One of my favorite nail polish colors is Color Club "Holy Chic!". It is such a gorgeous cool-toned purple, and it is perfect in two coats! I used that as the base for my floral nails. I also wanted to add some metallic accents to this design so I used Salon Perfect "Gold Leaf" for the gold parts of this design.

Hello everyone!

Today I have another #SwatchSunday post for you all, and it is with a brand that I have never tried before: Cupcake Polish! I've seen their polishes all over the internet and have been dying to try some of their holographic polishes for forever.

Cupcake Polish"Lei Me Down" is a deep purple holographic polish with a subtle blue shimmer. Here I am wearing two coats with top coat.

Zoya "Merida" Swatch & Review | #SwatchSunday

Hello everyone!

I apologize for my short little break! I start my first year in college in just a week, and have been tied up with last minute shopping and other preparations.

Today I have #SwatchSunday post for you all; one that I have really been looking forward to! I recently got a bottle of Zoya "Merida" from their new Urban Grunges Collection. I absolutely knew that I had to have this polish (not just because it is a sparkly deep green) but because Merida is my favorite princess. I have long, curly, red hair just like her, so I always say that she's my twin :)

Ok, enough back story! Here's my review.

Marble Effect Nails

Hello everyone!

Today I have a very simple and chic design to share with you. I have seen a lot of people doing marble nails lately and I think that they look super cool and I wanted to try it for myself!

I decided to incorporate a little bit of gold and blue into this mani as well. I have to say, I'm so happy with how this turned out! So cute and totally my style.

I painted my index and pinky nails with Essie "Blossom Dany" (seriously, if you don't own this shade, drop everything and get a bottle of it right now. Absolutely one of my all time favorites.) and did a white to "Blossom Dandy" gradient on my ring finger nail.

I used some single chevron vinyls from Snail Vinyls to do the skinny chevron lines on my nails. I wanted to incorporate the gold polish without it overpowering the rest of the mani, and I think that these thin accents worked really well!

Here's a close up of the marble nail:

If you want to see how I did this mani, including my technique for the marble effect, then check out my YouTube tutorial here:

My 18th Birthday Nails!

Hello everyone!

Today, August 16th, is my 18th birthday! :)

Every year, I do my nails for my birthday in a typical "Erin" style. Lately, my style has been much more simple, and with cute pastel colors. For this year's birthday mani, I decided to incorporate chevrons (my fave), glitter, and one of my all-time favorite polishes: Floss Gloss "Lavish".

Hello everyone!

Today I have a super fun post for you all: a mani swap with the one and only Nails By Miri!

I have been such a huge fan of Miri's nail art for a long time, so I was so excited when she agreed to collaborate with me. I decided to recreate her coral and gold X nails!

Essie "Bikini So Teeny" Swatch and Review | #SwatchSunday

Hello everyone!

Today for #SwatchSunday I have a swatch and review of Essie "Bikini So Teeny"! This polish is such a huge favorite of so many nail polish lovers, and I am no exception. I am a sucker for blues and this one is so beautiful and perfect for summer.

"Bikini So Teeny" is a slightly purple-toned light blue creme polish. It is extremely subtle, but this polish does have tiny little bits of silver glitter in it. You can only really see the sparkle in the sun.

Pink and Gold Floral Nails

Hello everyone!

Today I have a super girly design to share with all of you.

I was just kind of brainstorming some nail art the other day, and I decided that I wanted to do a nail art design that incorporated chevrons! A few years ago, chevrons on my ring finger was literally every other mani for me. Haha I am still obsessed with this look, but I haven't done any chevron nail art in so long.

I am so in love with how this design came out!

**Also, I recently made a Facebook page! Click here to check it out and please be sure to give it a like :)

In Memory of Ane Li

Hello everyone,

Today's post is a bit of a sad one.

The lovely Ane Li, who many of you know from Instagram and YouTube, unfortunately passed away on July 11th. I was devastated to hear about Ane, since she was one of the first people I followed and was inspired by when I got into nail art. She was an amazing talent and a beautiful person inside and out.

In honor of Ane, many artists throughout the nail community are doing recreations of her nail art on July 25th, the day of her funeral, as a tribute to her.

Il était un vernis "Monsieur Je T'aime" Swatch and Review | #SwatchSunday

Hello everyone! Happy #SwatchSunday :)

Today I have a swatch and review of Il était un vernis "Monsier Je T'aime", a gorgeous teal holographic polish. I purchased this polish from Live Love Polish, though it is currently out of stock there.

Anyone who knows me knows that blue and blue-green polishes are my absolute favorite. A few months ago, I spotted this on the LLP site and I knew that I had to have it!

Pink Nautical Nails | Mani Recreation!

Hello everyone!

I have been feeling a little uninspired lately, so I went back through my old manis to see if there was anything that could give me any ideas. And I came across my old pink nautical nails from July of 2013!

I remembered how much I loved this design, and I knew that I had to recreate it.

Hello everyone!

Smith and Cult "Beat Street" Swatch and Review | #SwatchSunday

Hello everyone!

Today for #SwatchSunday I have another Smith and Cult review for you all. This beauty is called "Beat Street".

White and Gold Daisy Nails

Hello everyone!

Today I have this super simple daisy mani to share with all of you. I've seen this sort of style before from a lot of other nail artists, so I decided to do my own take on it! I really love how chic and cute it came out.

I have been wanting to do some more floral designs lately, but I wanted something quicker than hand painted roses. This is such a quick and easy mani to do, which makes it a perfect floral design for nail art beginners!

Mix & Match 4th of July Nails

Hello everyone!

Happy 4th of July! What better way to celebrate than to put some red, white, and blue on your nails? I decided to create this mix & match patriotic mani to wear for the occasion. (I am so proud of myself for actually doing a holiday manicure in time for the holiday, haha)

I wanted to add a fun twist to the usual stars and stripes mani, so I did two accent nails with the Star Swirl Nail Vinyls from Snail Vinyls and (surprise, surprise) Starrily "Ultima" on my index and ring fingers. I think the result is a really fun and cute 4th of July design!

Smith and Cult "Stockholm Syndrome" Swatch and Review | #SwatchSunday

Hello everyone!

In case you didn't notice, my blog has a new URL! I am finally www.nailsbyerin.com! No more of those little dashes :) Of course, that old URL (www.nails-by-erin.com) will still redirect you to this blog, but I am so excited to have the new one, haha.

I also gave my blog a little bit of a makeover! I wasn't loving the color scheme anymore and I wanted to make it more simple and sophisticated. I went for this gray and seafoam style (I am absolutely loving seafoam colors right now) but of course, I still kept my classic gray and white chevron! I knew I couldn't give that up :)

So today for #SwatchSunday, I have another Smith and Cult swatch and review for you all! This gorgeous polish is called "Stockholm Syndrome".

Smith & Cult "Stockholm Syndrome" is a purple toned gray creme. I'm wearing two smooth coats with a layer of their Above It All top coat. I also used their Basis of Everything base coat underneath this polish.

My Prom Nails! :)

Hello everyone,

So a few weeks ago, I had my Senior Prom! And if you noticed that I haven't posted in a week and a half, it's because I've been so busy with prom, going for a weekend away, and finishing up my Senior Year! Only a week and a half until I graduate from high school :)

For my Senior Prom, I really wanted a dress that was different. I always tend to gravitate towards blues, white, and nude colors. Never anything really out there. But since I have red hair, green is always a great color for me. I decided that I wanted my Senior Prom dress to be emerald green! After searching through tons of stores, I found this Jovani one in the perfect color. I really love it!

To match my dress, I painted my nails with Salon Perfect "Escape to Neverland" with a Starrily "Ultima" glitter gradient on the tips of my nails to tie in the sparkly beading on the bodice. The green polish looks lighter than the dress in this lighting, but in person the color was almost a perfect match!

I thought that it might be fun to share my prom nails with you all, and I hope you enjoyed this quick little post! :)

Pastel Galaxy Nails

Hello everyone!

Today I have a very cute mani to share with all of you! After doing a blob gradient in my previous nail design, I realized how much the colors looked like a colorful galaxy. And it dawned on me that I have never done pastel galaxy nails! So here they are :)

Neon Gradient X Nails

Hello everyone!

Today I have a very colorful, neon nail design. It's perfect for the warm, bright summer weather we're having right now :)

I really wanted to do a design with the gorgeous new polishes from Salon Perfect's Neon Pop! Collection that they very kindly sent me. There are so many of those polishes, so I didn't use all of them, but I chose three of my favorites from it. I really love this color combo! :)

Black and White Floral Nails | Daniel Wellington Collaboration and Discount Code!

Hello everyone!

Today I have a little bit of a different post for all of you, and I am really excited to share it with you!

A few weeks ago I got an email from Johanna at Daniel Wellington, and she asked if I would like to collaborate with them again! You might remember from about a year ago that I did some nail designs with one of their watches. You can check out my other two posts with Daniel Wellington here.

**Daniel Wellington has been kind enough to give you all a discount code for 15% on www.danielwellington.com! The code is NAILSBYERIN. It expires on June 15th!**

This time, I picked out a smaller and simpler watch: the Classy Sheffield 26mm watch in silver. I love this watch because it can go with anything! It is simple and classic and I can see myself wearing this with so many outfits. It has a black leather band, silver accents, and gorgeous little Swarovski crystals along the face of the watch.

To kind of switch things up a little bit, I decided to work in a little bit of fashion to show you how I would wear this watch!

I'm no fashion blogger, but I hope you enjoy this type of post anyway! :)

Smith and Cult "She Said Yeah" Swatch and Review | #SwatchSunday

Hello everyone!

Today's #SwatchSunday post is with a new-to-me brand, Smith and Cult! Their polishes feature a 5-Free formula, which means it does not contain Dibutyl, Phthalate, Toluene, Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin and Camphor.

Their nail polishes are $18 each, so I would consider this to be more high end.

The polish I'm sharing with you today is "She Said Yeah". On their site, this is described as opaque muted periwinkle, and I think I would agree with that. It is like a muted blue creme with a lot of purple tones in it. These are the kind of colors I love!

Now, because this polish is high end, and it is a bit pricier than other nail polishes, I wore this polish for a full week before finishing my review. I wanted to be able to tell you how the polish lasted! Scroll down to the end of this post to read about how it lasted throughout the week.

Pastel Floral and Polka Dot Nails

Hi everyone!

Today I have this super girly pastel mani to share with all of you! It has been a while since I used Essie's "Blossom Dandy" in a manicure, and I really wanted to use it in a pretty spring design. This polka dot floral design was the result!

Mauve Quatrefoil Nails

Hi everyone!

Today I have a very simple nail design that is just completely my style. You might remember something similar to this: my blue and silver quatrefoil nails from last year. Obviously I love this mani :)

I recently got a few new nail polishes from LiveLovePolish.com, and one of the polishes I purchased was Cirque Colors "Deco", a gorgeous grayed-purple/mauve creme. You can read my full review of this polish here.

I decided to recreate one of my favorite designs with this color, and I love the result!

Cirque Colors "Deco" Swatch and Review | #SwatchSunday

Hello everyone!

Recently I picked up a few new nail polishes from Live Love Polish (which as many of you know, I am an intern for them :) Regardless, LLP is my favorite online nail polish store, and I buy a ton of my nail polish from there).

One polish that I have been eyeing for a while is Cirque Colors "Deco", so in my little haul a few weeks ago, I decided to get it.

"Deco" is a grayish-purple creme, almost like a deep, grayish-mauve. This is not a color that I would usually try out, but it looked so gorgeous and I knew I had to have it.

Londontown Instant Smudge Fix Demo & Review

Hi everyone!

Today I have a review of the new Londontown Instant Smudge Fix, a product that helps fix minor smudges and dents in your nail polish so you don't have to redo them!

I first painted my nails with "Royal Wedding" (read my review of this polish and the others from the collection here), and let them dry for a few minutes so they would be slightly tacky. Then, I put a little smudge in my nail (And I'll admit, it was a little painful to ruin freshly painted nails).

I was pleasantly surprised with the Instant Smudge Fix! It actually covered and smoothed out the smudge pretty well. It was as if the Smudge Fix made the polish turn wet again so it would self-level. You can check out my video demo here:

The first time I tried this product, I didn't fill the dent with the polish and it didn't work as well. I would definitely suggest filling the dent or smudge first, the product will work much better.

Overall, I think this is a great product if you are prone to smudging your nails! It fixes any little imperfections in under a minute.

Londontown is based in New York City and all of their polishes are 5-free. They are also cruelty-free, gluten-free, and vegan! You can check out their products here!

I hope you guys found this review and demo helpful :)

Gradient Heart Nails

Hello everyone!

I have great news! My college application process is coming to a close and that means that (*fingers crossed*) I will have more nail art time. Yay! :)

I recently received some adorable Valentine's Day nail vinyls from Snail Vinyls. I absolutely loved the heart nail stencils, so I decided to do this simple gradient heart design!
